Sustain our future

The Earth Needs Us Now

The Earth Needs Us Now is an organization built on one strong idea: if we do not take care of our environment today, we will not have a safe place to live tomorrow. The world is changing quickly. Temperatures are rising, floods are more frequent, droughts are spreading, and storms are stronger than before. All these problems come from climate change. And climate change is not just about weather; it directly affects how we grow food, how we live, and even our health. Our main aim is simple: to protect the environment and make sure there is enough food for everyone.

Why We Exist

Everywhere in the world, people need food to survive. But in many parts of Nigeria and Africa, farmers are losing their crops because of floods, long droughts, and poor soil caused by climate change. When crops fail, there is hunger. When there is hunger, communities become weak and poor. We created The Earth Needs Us Now because we believe we can stop this. We believe that if people come together, plant trees, protect water, and use the land wisely, we can fight climate change and make sure that every family has food on their table.

Our Aim

aim is to protect the environment from the threats of climate change and to ensure food security for all people. In simple words, we want to stop actions that damage the earth and start actions that make the earth healthy again. When the environment is healthy, food grows better, and people live better.

What We Do

We do not just talk. We act. Our work includes:
1. Tree Planting Trees are powerful. They clean the air, hold the soil, and bring rain. We mobilize communities to plant trees in towns, villages, schools, and farms. Every tree we plant is a gift to the future.

2. Flood Control In many areas, floods wash away farmlands and homes. We help people clear drainage, dig channels, and use flood-resistant crops so that they can still farm even when water levels rise.

3. Climate Awareness Many people do not know how climate change affects their daily life. We go to schools, churches, markets, and communities to teach people simple steps to protect the earth: reduce waste, recycle, use clean energy, and save water.

4. Support for Farmers Farmers are at the center of food security. We support them with knowledge, improved seeds, and climate-smart practices. For example, we encourage crop rotation, organic fertilizer, and solar-powered irrigation.

5. Ensuring Clean Energy through Chenil Solar One of the strongest ways we fight climate change is by promoting clean energy. Through our sister company, Chenil Solar, we provide solar power to homes, schools, and businesses across Nigeria. For ten years, Chenil Solar has been installing, selling, and maintaining solar systems in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Instead of depending on diesel and petrol generators that pollute the air and damage the climate, we give people access to clean and affordable solar energy. This does two powerful things: it reduces harmful emissions that cause climate change, and it gives people the electricity they need for daily life, farming, and business.
With Chenil Solar, we have already delivered hundreds of gigawatts of clean power nationwide. Every solar panel installed is not just light for a home — it is a step toward a greener, safer planet.

Our Belief

We believe that protecting the environment is not just for scientists or government. It is for everyone. Children, students, women, farmers, and workers — all of us have a role to play. Moreover, we believe that food security is human security. When people have food, they have peace. When food is missing, problems grow. By protecting the environment, we are protecting peace, health, and life itself.

Our Story in Action

In 2023, after a major flood in our community, we saw thousands of families lose their farms and homes. It was painful. But instead of giving up, we decided to act. We launched The Earth Needs Us Now campaign. With the help of over 10,000 volunteers, we planted more than 20,000 trees, cleared drainage systems, and introduced flood-resistant crops. That action brought hope. Farmers started to see better harvests, and young people realized they could make a difference. This is proof that when people unite for the earth, real change happens.

Our Vision for the Future

We dream of a Nigeria where:

• Every community is green with trees.

• Farmers use clean energy and modern methods to grow food.

• Floods and droughts do not destroy lives because people are prepared.

• Children can study about the environment and practice what they learn.

• Everyone understands that protecting the earth is the same as protecting themselves.

Our vision goes beyond Nigeria. We want to inspire Africa and the world. The earth is one home for all of us, and if we care for it, it will care for us.

How We Work

We keep things simple and practical:

• We mobilize communities by talking to leaders and bringing people together.

• We train volunteers to plant trees, clean the environment, and support farmers.

• We use campaigns and events to spread awareness on climate change.

• We work with partners who share our mission.

• We promote solar energy through Chenil Solar to reduce emissions and expand clean power.

Every project we do is designed to bring real results — cleaner air, better farms, safer homes, and stronger communities.

Why “The Earth Needs Us Now”?

We chose this name because the earth cannot wait. Climate change is already here. If we wait for tomorrow, it may be too late. The earth needs our action today — not next week, not next year, but now. This urgency guides everything we do. It pushes us to move fast, to act boldly, and to bring people together.

Our Call to Action

We cannot do this work alone. We need everyone. We invite:
• Young people to join as volunteers.

• Farmers to adopt climate-smart practices.

• Schools to include environmental lessons.

• Businesses to invest in clean energy and recycling.

• Governments to support policies that protect nature.

• Families to practice simple steps like planting a tree, reducing waste, and saving water.

If we all take small steps, together they become big steps.

FAO Partnership

Planting Trees to Protect Our Land

Together with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the campaign is planting thousands of trees across Nigerian communities. Each tree is a soldier in the fight against erosion, flooding, and desertification. These trees hold the soil together, give shade to farmers working under the hot sun, and restore life to dry, barren landscapes.

When we plant trees, we do more than protect land—we secure water sources, improve the air we breathe, and give our children a chance to inherit a greener earth. A tree planted today is a gift that will keep on giving for decades.

Solar Irrigation for Farmers

Farmers no longer have to wait helplessly for uncertain rains. With solar-powered irrigation systems, they can water their crops all year round. This means tomatoes in the dry season, rice when the rains delay, and vegetables that grow fresh even in hot weather.

FAO and the campaign are making this dream a reality, proving that technology and nature can work together. Solar irrigation reduces dependence on expensive diesel, cuts emissions, and brings smiles back to farming families.

Food Storage and Preservation

Every year, Nigerian farmers lose a huge portion of their harvest because there are no proper storage facilities. Tomatoes rot, cassava spoils, and maize is eaten by pests before it reaches the market. This is not just food wasted—it is income lost and hunger increased.

With solar-powered cold rooms and modern storage systems, food is preserved for longer periods. Farmers sell more, earn more, and communities have access to fresh food. Waste is reduced, and hunger is defeated step by step.

Training Farmers for a Changing Climate

Climate change has made traditional farming methods unreliable. FAO and the campaign are training farmers to grow flood-resistant rice, drought-tolerant maize, and stronger cassava varieties. These climate-smart crops are the future of agriculture in Nigeria.

Knowledge is power, and when farmers are equipped with new skills and seeds, they become unstoppable. Hunger does not stand a chance against a farmer who is well-prepared for the challenges of tomorrow.

Stories of Change: Musa’s Rice Barn

Musa from Kebbi once watched floods destroy his rice every year. His barn stayed empty, and his family went hungry. But with the support of FAO and the campaign, he received training and better seeds that could withstand heavy rain.

Today, Musa’s barn is filled with rice. His children eat well and go to school with confidence. His story is one of resilience, proving that no flood is stronger than the spirit of a determined farmer with the right support.

A Call to Nigeria

This campaign is not about a few farmers—it is about all of us. Every tree we plant, every farm we protect, every emission we reduce is a step toward a future of peace, health, and abundance.

The Earth does not need us tomorrow. The Earth does not need us someday. The Earth Needs Us Now. Together, with FAO and with every Nigerian, we will build a nation where no child goes to bed hungry and every family has hope.
